In 1866-1867, Haci Izzet Pasha, one of the governors of Edirne, added wooden floors and clocks to the tower, leading to its eventual renaming as the Clock Tower. Following excavations, the Macedonia Tower and its surroundings, the only surviving structure from the city's towers, were transformed into an "Urban Archaeology Park."

The world's longest stone bridge, the Uzun Bridge, was built in 1427 during the reign of Murad II and completed after sixteen years of labor, becoming operational in 1443. The strategic importance of the bridge stems from its location on the routes connecting Turkey to the Balkans and Europe, making it a vital border town.
