6 Days Kirklareli City & Cooking Tour

Meet at Tekirdag Corlu Airport and transfer to your hotel. You will be given your room key and the rest of the day is yours to explore Kirklareli. Overnight in Kirklareli.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and depart for the Kirklareli City Tour. We will visit the ATATURK MUSEUM. Atatürk, the founder of Secular and Democratic Turkish Rebuplic, was born in Selanik in 1881. In 2018 The Municipality of Kirklareli opened “Ataturk Museum” to visitors which is a replica of the house that Ataturk was born. In the last two years the museum welcomed more than 350.000 visitors. Next we will walk to KIRKLARELI MUSEUM. The museum building, which was visited by the Great Leader Atatürk on December 20 1930, was built in 1894 and served as municipality building for a while. At present it is a two storey museum with four sections; archeology, ethnography, culture and nature exhibition halls. After that we will see GERDANLI FOUNTAIN that was built in late 19th cent which has the late Ottoman Characteristics. It had two facades and “kufeki” stone was the used in construction. In late Ottoman Architecture “kufeki” stone was used in fountains or structures which were close to water as the stone was resistant to humidity and such. Next we will have a walk in this lively ISTASYON STREET where there are many shops and cafes and such. After free time for lunch in here we will head to SOKULLU MEHMET PASHA MOSQUE & COMPLEX. After about 1 hour drive we will reach the mosque which was built in late 16th cent and was named after Sokullu Mehmet Pasa who was one of the well known grand viziers of Ottoman Empire. After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Kirklareli.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and depart for Edirne City Tour. After about 1 hour drive we will reach Edirne. Edirne was the second capital city of Ottoman Empire after Bursa and before Istanbul so we will start the tour with famous SELIMIYE MOSQUE that built in 1575. The mosque was named after Ottoman Sultan Selim II and was designed by Ottoman’s greatest master architect, Mimar Sinan (1490–1588). The mosque the highest minarets in Turkey, at 70.90 m and a cupola 1.22 m higher than that of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The mosque is one of the most beautiful mosques in the World and do worth to see with its speacial marble handicrafts, spectacular tiles and fine paintings. As we exit the museum for sure we will visit the ARASTA BAZAAR (old local market’s present version). Here you can see local traditional Turkish Delights as well as local handicrafts and such. Next we will visit the OLD MOSQUE that was built in 1414 and for sure we will visit the OLD OTTOMAN PALACE, known as “EDIRNE PALACE” as well, dating back to 1475. After that w will have free time for lunch. During this time do not forget to taste the local food, fried liver. Edirne has many historical arch bridges as the Meric and Tundzha rivers pass around & through Edirne so will visit the most famous one MERIC BRIDGE from mid 19th cent. During the tour we will also be visiting the KULLIYE OF BEYAZID II (Beyazid II Islamic Complex). After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Kirklareli.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel and depart to a local restaurant for your professional cooking lesson. You participate in your first Turkish cooking lesson: During our Kirklareli Cooking Tour, you will taste various flavors of Kirklareli Region and you will enjoy to cook & taste local food like Papara (bread, butter and water), Kirklareli Meat Balls, Sini Mantisi (local version of ravioli) and such. After lunch you will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Kirklareli.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from hotel for Hamam (Turkish Bath) Tour depending on your wish and available hours of Hamam. Turkish Bath is quite a popular part of Turkish Culture and it is being practiced all around the country therefore it will be nice to experience this activity. After the Hamam we will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Kirklareli.
