6 Days Kirikkale City & Cooking Tour

Meet at Ankara Airport and transfer to your hotel. You will be given your room key and the rest of the day is yours to explore Kirikkale. Overnight Kirikkale.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel for the city tour. We will start our tour with NUR MOSQUE which was built recently (2007) in classic Ottoman style. The mosque has a 10.000 people capacity and is worth seeing with its beautiful tiles and architectural style. As we walk around in downtown we will also see the local OTTOMAN MANSIONS which date back to the 16th century. The CLOCK TOWER of the city is also one of our stops in downtown area. After lunch next stop will be MKE WEAPONS INDUSTRY MUSEUM, the museum is one of the highlights of the tour as Kirikkale is well known for its Weapons Industry. The museum exhibits a wide range of weapons from the 14th century to the present. Weapons collected in the museum were brought together from various cities of Turkey. After local lunch we will head to WATERY CAVE which used to be a quarry. At present it is a popular visit place with its interesting galleries and its 285 m walking path. Next stop will be CERITKALE ROCK TOMBS dating back to iron age (1200 BC). After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight Kirikkale.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel for Ankara City Tour. After about 1,5 hours drive we will be there. We will visit the award winning MUSEUM OF ANATOLIAN CIVILIZATIONS which was established in 1921 and reached its present structure in 1968. In the museum you can simply see the summary of human civilization where you can see the artefacts from Palaeolithic Age (8000 BC), Neolithic Age (8000-5500 BC), Calcolithic (Copper-Stone) Age (5500-3000 BC) to present time. The museum has a perfect exhibition about historic Anatolian cultures like Hittites, Phrygians, Urartus and Late Hittites. Next stop will be THE ANKARA CASTLE which is one of the oldest sites in Ankara and is believed to date back to late Hittites period 1600 BC. The castle was used by the Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman empires. The castle overlooking the city contains a small neighbourhood of old historic houses and a local market which you can enjoy. After that we will visit AUGUSTUS TEMPLE which is also known as Ancyranum that was built in 25 – 20 BC by The Romans. The temple is known for its Greek inscriptions. The temple was converted to a Basilica in Christian era. We will also visit HACI BAYRAM MOSQUE next to the temple. We will have free time for lunch and after that we will visit THE MAUSOLEUM OF ATATURK. Ataturk started and lead the independence war of Turkey and saved the country and he is also the founder of the democratic and secular Turkish Republic. Here you can see hall of honor, the mauseloum, the lion's road, the towers with symbolic meanings, ceremonial ground, change of guards ceremony, and museum. Ankara is well known for KIZILAY NEIGHBORHOOD and we will end the tour with a walk here. After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight Kirikkale.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel and depart to a local restaurant for your professional cooking lesson. You participate in your first Turkish cooking lesson: During our Kirikkale Cooking Tour, you will taste various flavors of Kirikkale Region and you will enjoy to cook & taste local food like Tarhana Soup (sundried food, tomato and flour), Tuvalak (a soup-like dish with bulgur & meat), Sizgit (local fried meat) and such. After lunch you will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight Kirikkale.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel for the Hamam (Turkish Bath) Tour depending on your wish and available hours of Hamam. Turkish Bath is quite a popular part of Turkish Culture and it is being practiced all around the country therefore it will be nice to experience this activity. After the Hamam we will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight Kirikkale.
