After breakfast at your hotel, begin your full-day guided tour of Istanbul’s Old City, exploring the historical heart of the city. Start with a photo stop at Topkapi Palace (from the outside), the great palace of the Ottoman sultans, for an exterior view and photos of its historical gates. Continue to the Blue Mosque, renowned for its six minarets and its beautifully decorated interior featuring blue Iznik tiles. Next, view the majestic Hagia Sophia from the Outside, originally a 6th-century cathedral, later a mosque, and today one of the most iconic architectural wonders in the world. Proceed to the Hippodrome, the ancient arena that once hosted chariot races, where you will see the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, and the Column of Constantine. After a lunch break, the tour proceeds to the Grand Covered Bazaar (closed on Sundays), one of the world’s oldest and largest covered markets, offering thousands of shops filled with carpets, ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, and traditional handicrafts.
