The best time to visit the Ndutu Area is during the prime time, which is late December to March. This period is when the Great Wildebeest Calving Season takes place, and it is an incredible spectacle to witness hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles giving birth in the short grass plains of Ndutu. This event also attracts predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, providing a great opportunity to observe dramatic predator-prey action.
January–February are particularly ideal months to visit as you will have the chance to see large herds, newborn calves, and exciting wildlife interactions. Day 2 – Ngorongoro Crater & Transfer to Ndutu Descend into the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife-rich volcanic caldera. Spot Big 5 animals, including rhinos, along with flamingos, hippos, and elephants. Afternoon drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to reach Ndutu. Sunset game drive across the Ndutu plains—perfect for photography and predator encounters.
Day 3 – Ndutu Area Early morning game drive during prime calving season. Unique opportunity to see newborn calves and predator action. Scenic return drive through the Rift Valley back to Arusha.
