The Upper Mustang Trek is a remote and culturally rich trekking experience in the Mustang region of Nepal, near the Tibetan border. Often referred to as the "Last Forbidden Kingdom," Upper Mustang was restricted to outsiders until the 1990s, preserving its ancient Tibetan culture and unique landscapes. The trek takes you through arid valleys, windswept cliffs, and traditional villages, offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Highlights include exploring the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang, visiting monasteries, and experiencing the region's distinct Tibetan-influenced culture. The trek is moderately challenging and requires a special permit due to its restricted status.
