About Exclusive Small Group Camping Safaris
Exclusive Budget Safaris as the name implies are Safaris that cater to a traveller that wants something a step up from a Traditional Camping Safari. These Safaris are specifically designed for a more discerning traveller so to speak, but a traveller who still wants to get the most out of their African Experience.
Generally speaking, an Exclusive Budget Safari implies the following:
Group Size
The group size is usually between 4 and 12 persons. This guarantees you much more one- on- one time with the Guide. It also means that the pack up time for any camping sections is that much faster as the guide will be able to assist you in dismantling your tent. With a small group, it allows you to visit areas that cater to small group sizes only which opens up areas that are not available to larger groups.
Tour Vehicle
For Exclusive Budget Safaris, the vehicle you use will depend on the area in Africa you will be travelling. For most of the Exclusive Safaris, the tours are conducted making use of 4x4 Toyota Landcruisers, small air-conditioned minibuses or small trucks. These vehicles will ensure you are comfortable while at the same time ensuring you are able to reach parts of Africa that a sedan style vehicle will be able to.
Accommodation
Exclusive Safaris, by and large, make use of luxury camping facilities or a combination of camping and lodge-style facilities. The tents are usually spacious, well-ventilated canvas dome tents. For most Exclusive Safaris a comfortable canvas mattress is provided. On several tours, bedding is also provided, but when this is not the case you would need to bring along a sleeping bag or one will be provided at a small surcharge. Where Lodge style accommodation is used, the standard of the lodge/guesthouse/chalets is usually in the 2-3 star bracket.
Campsites
The campsites used on Exclusive Safaris are chosen for their remoteness and exclusivity. Where possible, the campsites chosen are not accessible to the general public. On several Safaris, traditional "Bush" camping is used. What this means is everything will be brought along and a makeshift campsite will be erected. This ensures your privacy and gives you a real sense of being in the African Bush. When these exclusive campsites are not available you will stay in National Park campsites chosen for their cleanliness and available facilities.
Tour Meals
The Budget for meals on Exclusive Safaris is generally larger than for a traditional camping safari and as a result, the meals served are of a high standard. It is often the case where a cook is brought along on the Safari to prepare all meals with little to no participation from the clients required. Where this is not the case the Guide will prepare all meals. There might be a small level of participation required in terms of assisting the guide, but this rarely happens.
Safari Guides
All Guides on Exclusive Safaris are fully qualified and are of the highest standard with an in-depth knowledge of the country you will be visiting. The Guides main job is to ensure that things run smoothly and to inform the clients on all fauna, flora, geographical and cultural aspects of the local area.
Participation on Tour
Minimal to no participation is required on Exclusive Budget Safaris. If you are required to participate it is usually restricted to the campsite and will be in the form of putting up and dismantling your tent. On the odd occasion, you might be asked to assist the cook/guide in certain aspects of meal preparation but this is rarely required.
An Exclusive Budget Safari will appeal to clients who want to get the most out of their African Experience without having to compromise on the quality of the Safari.
If you are looking for a more luxurious custom safari built around your specific needs we can tailor make a private tour that's just right for you.
